Afternoon All - Newbie question to follow
Will be picking up my Freelander the weekend. All seems fine with the VCO, but has done 98K, so will be wanting to replace when funds allow.
In the meantime, planning to remove the prop so not to cause any damage.

Found the thread as below, but just wondered if there are any other issues
https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/freelander-1-prop-removal.229586/

Is it just a case of removing the bolts front and rear on the propshafts and then releasing the brackets for the VCO and lower everything down?
Only intend it to be off for maximum of a month, so do I need to do anything to the now exposed ends front and rear?
Also read on a different thread that removing the prop, causes the Traction Control and ABS lights to come on. Anyone aware if that is the case.

Thanks in advance for any advice.
Cheers

Just remove the whole assembly and all will be well. It shouldn't make the warning lights come on, but be aware that the TC will intervene more often when it's just FWD. ;)

Do you really have to disconnect the VCU? Have you performed the OWUT? If under a minute (and at 90-odd thousand miles it ought to be), then you don't need to disconnect the props just yet...

Thanks all.
Must admit was just thinking of worst case scenario. Car was bought direct site unseen, as at other end of country from me.
Pics were sent and spoke on the phone with seller, but didn't actually see the car until collection.

ilowever on picking it up it seems fine. Will get the weighted wheel bar test asap and know for certain.
It's also got four matching brand new tyres about 8 months ago, so one less reason to be worried.

Then just got to sort out dodgy rear parking sensors and VERY stiff opening of rear door. Hopefully door is an easy fix with silicone grease spray today.

Thanks again all.
