I used to rent a bottle in Holland, it was dirt cheap €10/yr and a refill was only €10.
I have emailed AirProducts to see what their rates are as I really need a big bottle, the little disposable cylinders are good for a very small job here and there but I am going to be best part of a 12lb spool of wire I recon by the time I've done that rear quarter panel, re-made the boot floor and rebuilt the tubular crossmember end pieces and that bit of chassis rail, was looking at the rear body crossmember and it looks like it could do with at least one new body mount and a bit of work to keep the tin worm at bay.

Erm. No ongoing rental, just the refill costs, as and when required. Last time was about 5 years ago

That accounts for why the gas was so cheap as we paid a core annual subscription on the bottle and used them for the refills, in Belgium I used to use neat CO2 pub gas and it worked very well, a little bit of arc wander at times but nothing major, I heard and read all sorts about weld porosity using CO2 but never had issues personally.
Will await the news from AP and maybe check out a few others too.

have a look into hobbygas, you buy the bottle to start then jsut pay for refills from then on, and they do all the mixes and gases and sizes you could want

Got a bit too much on this weekend so about all I have managed is to strip out the rear interior in preparation to start the big cut and weld boor floor and rear quarter rebuild.
Few pics of where we are right now.
Bit of the rot, really not sure what went wrong with the paint as it all flaked off in lots of areas and especially around the seam welds which is rather odd as it was seam sealed inside and out and stone chip painted too, no real drama, been in there 6 years and I might as well get it all ripped out, side panels and all, get the rear inner quarters sorted along with the wheel arches too.
Disconnected the bumper lights and got the wiring looms pulled up inside the back and tied out of the way.
This is the crappy bit, to fix this properly it needs the rear quarter panels pulled off, gonna be an easy fix with some 1.5mm plate and a few hours cutting grinding and welding.
Should get it cracked in a weekend but no stress.

I'm a bit busy with other stuff but while I was sorting out the front room I found the cable for the camera
It's bad, really bad.
Pulled the rear light cluster.
Then found all the assorted bolts and screws holding the outer quarter panel to the body shell.
There are another couple of bolts hidden under the plastic trim on the outside of the door post, the trip has to be levered off and uses the Christmas tree like panel pins to secure it, they will most likely snap as mine did or the little metal clips on the back of the panel will ping off as mine also did
But rear outer quarter panel is now removed
Oh look, a bit of light surface rust on the back door post, in several places.
That will need a rub back, treated with the rust killer and primed ready for paint, takes minutes but very satisfying, next bit is gonna be a tad more involving!!!

Bit loike looking at sediment rock with all the various layers of silt inside the sill
Admittedly the body mount has seen better days
So, if I have time next week I will have a go at doing a bit more

The floor comes out level to the outer edge of the B post to meet the wheel arch.
From the inside, you can just make out the B post in the lower right corner.

i was thinking of the panel below the filler access hatch on Tufftee - where the bottom of the side panel has been cut out.

I found the other pics of the rust killer on the camera too
This one is the side panel with the cut out for the filler, there is a cut line there where I painted to and that is where TuffTee has had the lower portion of the side panel cut off.
The worst bit about it isn't the welding, that won't take long when I actually have time to do it but the cleaning off of that bloody black mastic stuff for the panel jointing. took forever, Rusty is fully wrapped up under the tarp so I have plenty of cover from the weather
