This was my baby

But alas she has succumbed to the tin worm, what do i do, she has a lovely engine and loads of tricked up bits, only problem is i can't weld. Do i pour money to a welder or just break her, That is the million dollar question.

agreed.........get a welder, it's not Dark Arts or Rocket Science.

I couldn't weld, but bought a mig about a month ago, ......... loads of practice and learning / watching youtube vids.

practice, practice, practice ......

learn that it gives off **** loads of UV light, and not to weld in T-Shirt

currently making a cart for the welder (as you do when you first start welding), and then I should be confident enough to get welding my Disco.

Learn to weld.

I hadn't done any before but bought a mig for £150 and as mentioned above watched lots of how to's and practiced, get some offcuts from a welders/metal fabricators, ive since done the whole underneath from the headlamp boxes straight through to the boot floor no problem (made every piece myself except the rear outer arches) pre made parts are cheap enough, these guys do good parts:

Discovery 1 Parts - YRM Metal Solutions

All you need from start to finish is an angle grinder and disks, the welder with wire and gas, some anti rust treatment (fertan) some seam sealer, some red oxide and some underseal (tetra shultz).

And your landy can live FOREVER!

done very much the same thing to my disco 200 a few years ago.
the welding bit was ok for me, as I`ve building/racing cars for light years
on my 3rd mig, 2nd or 3rd arc welder too... just horses for courses with home welders...
as I type, my lights are flickering as no. 1 son has the mig out welding his vedub loopy (lupo) exhaust around the front flange of exhaust box...

slammed vdubs get that problem ..

Thanks for the support guys, but me welding just aint happening, got neither the time or inclination to do it. Will have to find someone who wants a project or break it, as it is getting to crowded at my mates garage

cheers Dazza

Or: how much do you want for the whole thing? how much welding is required? what milage/tax/test etc?

More details please.
