Just a question really, i want to replace the accumulator and at the same time fit new disc's and pads and then replace the brake fluid. I have read in the RAVE manual the process for this which is a manual process. But i have a Gunssons ezi-brakebleed kit that pressurises a tank of fliud and pushes it round the system and all you need to do is bleed the brakes. Can i use this instead of the manual process out of the manual?

Cheers

The P38 brake system is a real sod to bleed in the first place....I can't see any reason not to use a pressurised bleed kit (don't use to much pressure mind) but the process in the manual is there for a reason, it has been reported that any deviation from it can cause headaches and it is best to stick to the known and well documented method.

There are two system not to mess with or scrimp and save on, on the P38 - Brakes and Steering as these two systems, above all else, will save your life.

If you are quick in changing the accumulator you wont need to bleed it at all. Then do your discs/pads.After that suck as much old fluid out of the res, refill with fresh fluid. Then all you need to do is to open each nipple separately, ign on and press the brake slightly. The pump will push the fresh fluid through - watch till its clean and release brake, tighten nipple. No need for the easibleed unless you change pipes/let a load of air into the system.THEN you will need it - but only at 5-10 psi - no more.

I went to Vhauxall and they did it for me DOT5 new fluid, £50 I think it was, less than doing it yourself, a no brainer if you ask me, it just needs you to screw it up once and it will cost you a fortune in new fluid and time to put it all right, i think its holds something stupid like 4 Lt

Just a note, before removing the accumulator, discharge all brake pressure first, else you'll spray brake fluid everywhere! With ignition off, press and release the brake pedal 30 times. Once depressurised, unscrew old accumulator and simply screw on the new one. Turn ignition back on and the pump will re-pressurise the system. No need to bleed it.
