Hi
why is it so expensive to send goods to germany ?

wanted to buy a Police signal stick, he wanted 15pounds post for a 8pound item ?, and then paddocks send me a oil filter or a big box of goods for 5 pounds how can they do that and others not ?

i feel really ripped of, theres big business for land rover parts here in germany if england sellers could reduce thier post costs.

Set up a DHL account in Germany and get them to collect your bits over here. That way you can control the shipping costs. Then you could offer it as a service to other German Landy owners.

Try living in a scottish highlands postcode area.

Its much cheaper to buy (postage) from China than it is from England :)

i feel really ripped of

Who ripped you off though? the seller or the courier.....probably both!!

when you buy for example in ebay, sometimes it says how much or you have to ask for post costs to germany, toooooo High.

Thinking about coming to england next year buy everything i can and then sell it on with a profit

wanted a original land rover Tool kit on ebay, i bought it an hour ago, then cancelled it when i saw what a small pkt. that wieghs around 1kilo and wanted 23 pound for the POST. Talk about ripping me off

Seems a little odd that we have a few members here from more Northern and Eastern places than you who haven't complained about postage costs, could it just be your choice of suppliers?

Citylink are usually pretty good on large or heavy items, try parcelmonkey too, they use night freight sometimes. Sent loads of big stuff with these without a problem.
Anything weighing more than 1 kilo I now use couriers rather than royal mail, they just cost far too much now

Please dont compare paddocks with us small suppliers!!
I send out quite a lot of stuff but I cant even get a basic discount account ,they want several hundred parcels a week!

Suck it up and stop whinging, Im a fair bit further east than you and you dont hear me complaining its the price you pay for driving an exotic foreign motor.

Im sure if you look about a bit more you will find some decent suppliers local or you will start to realise that ordering from the UK only works if you are ordering in advance and in bulk, have you thought about looking east? I have a very good supplier out here now all his stuff is ordered from the uk, Allmakes, Bearmach OEM and even Land Rover Gen parts, terrafirma etc etc etc he carry's the stock and i simply order what i need when i need it.

It has taken me a while but i even get a discount now that equates to cheaper than some of paddocks list prices so all in all Im a happy bunny.

keep looking or suck it up.

interesting reading in this section..
I ordered a special clutch part for a modified vespa scooter from a well known german scooter centre,
it was a better product, and cheaper than an equivelent uk sourced item.
£42.00 for item,
£7-50 for delivery.
it was not that heavy, but came in a huge box well packed,
courier ? DHL germany, with a tracking number,
got here in 3 days from start to finish via ebay.
mytyres & opono sell tyres from germany, pay then are delivered within 3 days, sometimes just 2 !! at no extra cost.....

cant fault that whatsoever..

have waited much longer for uk sourced parts, its as if no one gives a fcuk at times here.

landrover parts are generally good at getting here by post too though..

i have brought from germany before going to the uk and the post has been quite reasonable. Everything from a small packet to a 1 kilo parcel.

When a Johnny Foreigner asks me for postage on an eBay item, I always give the price that has all the protections on, not the basic service. Silly and irrational maybe as if someone in east anglia caused me trouble, I wouldn't be arsed to go there in person or use the law or whatever to solve a dispute so there's no real reason.

I live in Austria and we have a landrover dealer who stocks lots of landy motor parts, and I get a 10% discount! They supplied me with a brand new rockerbox cover which I cracked they don't have prices in the catalogue, but I've just checked an old invoice, and their oil filter for my 1987 2.5d NA cost me a lot less than 8 quid!
Their postage to me in Austria is very reasonable - ask them if they are prepared to post to germany - only next door!

small ebay people will be using the royal mail or have a crap deal with couriers. volume order places get massive discounts. ie. £4.50 next day delivery for big boxes anywhere mainland uk.
