This defender has caught my eye because if the price, low mileage and the fact it is a 300tdi. It's a fair distance away but worth travelling for?!?

Spec:

Manual, All Terrain, Diesel, 26,000 miles, Blue. Insurance Group:19, Factory station wagon ,six denim twill seats all with belts ,security cubby box ,landrover cd player ,blue tooth ,hand throttle ,alarm ,galvanised chassis fitted ,polly bushed , galvanised roofrack with ladder ,snorkel ,front/rear work lights ,front/rear jate rings ,tow bar ,X6 Superwinch. only 26000 miles with full service history ,12 months mot and tax ,very hard to find with such low miles., £7,995

Should I be worried about the apparent low mileage?? Or anything else for that matter??

Cheers!

New chassis fitted inside 26000 miles ??????.: maybe they missed a zero off the mileage or it spent a long time on the sea bed

If its a long way to travel I`d do some researtch first :
Ask the vendor some questions
Why a new chassis at such low miles
How has it been used offroad
What were the advisories on the last MOT
Is the mileage engine or car mileage ( could be a new engine )
Are the old MOT`s present to verify all but the first 3 years mileage
Has it ever been sorn`d or kept off the road and if so why
Has it ever been in any accidents.
How many owners has it had.
Is it a Japanese re-import.
How is the service hsitory made up - stamped service book or invoices or both. I`d expect main dealer stamps for a while then independents and invoices, or parts invoices if self maintained
If the answers stack up I`d do a full HPI check - worth the money at the asking price of the car (which is very top end).
Is it trade or private - if its trade see if there are any feedback scores on the dealer
You should be able to get through all the above steps in a couple of hours
If that works I`d go and see it and take someone with you who knows Discos.
Good luck and I hope it turns out well

Sorry, got Discos on the brain, , forget Japanese re-imports if its a Defender and in the last line substiutute Defender for Disco - otherwise all still relevant

Yeah I found the whole Advert a bit weird?

Group 19 insurance? I assume a typo?!?
13 years old
26,000 miles?
New chassis?

The guy selling it is a dealer and he has six or so defenders constantly for sale, probably sells 100+ a year?

Ive emailed him but no response, will need to call.

Thanks for the input!

Forgot to add, it's also got a roofrack and mountain rescue style lights on top? So I wondered if it was possibly a little used recovery/safety/injured pesons vehicle for mountain rescue or ski slopes, hence the improved chassis and low mileage?

super cars is group 20 so suppose a defender is a bit slower than a ferrari so a bit less than 20 is 19....Dodgy logic, doesnt tie up at all. and that few miles means everything will be siezed.

blue lights?
Might mean it could be plausible, a load of fire injun landys have been stored dry with no miles at airports and that.

I think need you to take a long hard look at this one !!! Just ask youself a few questions before you part with a lot of cash...;) improved chassis is a load of bull**** inside 26000mls

Depending on the colour blue it could be ex Coastguard (though I thought they mostly used Japanese now), might explain the new chassis though if its been backing an inshore lifeboat on its trailer into the sea to launch it ?

could get a half decent TD5 defender for that money and alot newer!
mileage dont sound right to me but is possible!
mine is 1988 with 97,000 miles less than 5,000 a year:eek:

the defender isnt the vehicle you drive all day every day so maybe mileage is correct.
could of been owned by a farmer who used it to potter about on a farm.

Are you a member of AA / RAC or similar? If so get them to do a full check over at the dealers before you even bother travelling. At that sort of money it's got to be worth it.
