Last 24 hours I have been out and about covering 100miles in bleak terrain in the 90, once I wanted diflock briefly to get to a village with some very very slightly challenging sections.

I’m amazed at poor planning of people with children in a house and only agreed to deliver items as I was concerned about a infant several months old- they shop daily and keep no pantry of items.

I asked a woman in a BMW if she wanted towing out on a road as stuck in the gutter, she told me she didn’t need my sort of help- so I told her to **** herself and drove on.

I saw a fiat fly past me at 50mph and found it smashed into a barrier with wheel hanging off- woman said she had called police and wanted to be left to it.

Meanwhile I have a well stocked pantry, extra radiators in central heating, suitcase generator to run heating and internet if power did go down and coal and logs for wood burner.

Few inches of snow and it turns into a circus

Long time no see!

What yer bin up to? Apart from driving around in the snow, that is.

Lot of idiots around, luckily the bulk of em stayed off the roads round here due to the weather warnings.

I posted it in LZIR as interested who else went out and about.
LZIR used to be about helping people out, in fact that was purpose of map I made prior to 4x4 ****er response groups who wanted to play police/breakdown organisation look a likes.

Seeing loads of four wheel drives and slitties about, I wondered if anyone had a tale to tell on a LZIR theme.

It would seem there are only the grammar police ‍♂️.

Anyway if someone comes back with an interesting tale so be it, I’ve an appointment with a bottle of wine.

Work generally, bought a 2016 van with 19k on it as other one had space ship miles and realised I had it 4 years.
Converting a warehouse into homes.
Ground works on a mini digger at my place and 26 ton of stone to go with other 30 ton of drive.
New roof on my house.
Enjoying life and avoiding stress.

Yep, me too.
Quit farming and living on a boat.

Not rescued anyone, but I did drive back from Lunnon yesterday in me Mondeo. Didn't see anyone to rescue, just a couple of trucks slid into the ditch.
Wasn't much on the roads at all, very quiet compared to normal, I think due to the warnings. Snow wasn't actually that deep.

The problem here is that too many people have the attitude of "it'll never happen to me, and if it does, someone else will sort it all out for me" No need for forward planning or thinking when that's your attitude.

As I've got older & hopefully wiser, I'm very wary of helping people out with 'stuck' vehicles. We live in a litigation obsessed age & causing unintentional damage to such owner's vehicles, for which I'm not insured for, is a risk I'm not prepared to take unless there is a definite threat to human or animal life.
Sorry if this attitude conflicts with LZIR policy but a RRC V8 in low box & diff lock can have too much pulling power for what it's recovery strop is attached to on a modern car.

Think that is why the new LZIR procedures were introduced.

Me neither. Reckon that could use a little bit of re-writing.
Maybe something like

I will receive the best endeavours of LZ members as directed by the LZ despatch agents, to recover my vehicle and it's occupants to a place of safety as discussed and agreed.

In place of the middle bit.

There's tales of daring do dotted about ;)

Just not posted in LZIR cuz that's more focused on helping each other rather than the wider communities we live in.

I did wonder if I might be putting a call out once or twice today but I was well prepared, careful and my luck held :)

Erm, perhaps if you'd said "ok, just wanted to ask, stay safe and don't take any risks, have a good evening" instead of telling her to **** herself then next time she might actually accept help from a 4x4 driver. Not being funny and I'm sure your intentions were 100% totally honourable but you can kinda see why a (presumably) lone frightened female might not want to willingly attach herself and her car to that of a total stranger out in the snow "offering assistance" who then has the ability to drag her and her car off to wherever they might want to.

We know you were only trying to do the right thing but a bit of empathy goes a long way you know...

Sometimes in the heat of the moment you say something that afterwards you think... hmm, maybe that wasn't the best thing to say, but it's too late then.
