I'm having an issue that has got worse over the last few weeks. When started there appears to be no loss in performance.

Things I have changed since problem started.
New fuel Filter
New injector seals and washers
New fuel filter nrv
New fuel filter air bleed valve
New heater plugs
No faults with a nanocom

The problem doesn't appear to be any better after a fuel purge before trying to start.
First crank and it spins quickly if I try to start straight again after the first long crank it catches and fires.
I've charged the battery up overnight with no change. I also put a good battery on with jump leads and still no change.

Not pulled the fuel pump yet.
No signs of leaking fuel at the regulator.

Please help as I'm loosing faith..

I ran a fresh earth a little while ago to the battery to resolve another issue I had so that's ok..
I haven't looked at the crank sensor but isn't it straight forward working or not?? If the cps was knackered then would it just not start?

The crank sensor can give all kind of trouble... try to bump start it and if it starts right away it can be interference between the starter and crank signal(quite common but usually it gets a "noisy crank signal" fault code but not always) then the only cure is a new starter cos it's some resistive short in the winding or in the collector

A component which can give cold and hot starting issues is the fuel temp sensor(in the FPR)...swap it with the coolant temp sensor cos they are the same and if then you'll have erratic gauge reading and it will start better put a new one
