Polyethylene foam for sound dampening?

I am wondering about the usefulness of POLYETHYLENE FOAM SHEET for use as sound dampening material in my Defender.

Locally (southern Oman) it is difficult to find the materials I want, but I can buy the above (3/8 inch thick). Would it be suitable/effective/useful? I envisage using it in certain areas of my vehicle (e.g. second-row passenger footwell), in combination with rubber sheet.

i put some sort of rubber foam flooring in mine really cuts the noise,

i would be concerned about its fire- resistance??

Hi Popotla,
have a look at Noisekiller this product really works and was specificaly designed for noise reduction in commercial vehicle applications. The whole thing comes in a kit and can be fitted throughout in about a day.

I'm not on commission so it's not spam, just very satisfied with the result.

Am sure someone on here knows a cheaper source for the same stuff as noisekiller. Cannot remember who tho..........arghhhhhh

The owner at NoiseKiller told me he had the product created to his own spec. He certainly knew his stuff. Of course similar products are available. Theirs has a heavy deadening sheet around the silencing foam. The stuff for the engine bay has a lead sheet in it.
