Please can someone advise me.. I have a Vogue with 50k on the clock and full history, owned it a year, had a service in April via a main dealer. Yesterday took it to a non main dealer (but reputable) garage to have 2 x front tyres and some rear brake pads fitted. All seemed well, only thing that seemed odd and it may have been banter is the receptionist said the fitter is just telling the car what he has done, and test driving it then all done. I questioned the "telling the car bit" and it was confirmed that something had to be done to confirm the brakes had been replaced. (Pads only... genuine parts)

Done a few miles yesterday with no issues, about 15-20 miles, but today I start the car up to get an error message saying "forward alert not available", drove the car, tried selecting cruise, to get a message saying that's not working either.

My major issue is I am taking this car to Cornwall Tuesday towing my caravan I am in Essex. I am there for 2 weeks and will cover quite a few miles.

Spoke to someone who knows a bit, to be told me although the cruise will not work the car will be fine... sort when I get back.

Please can someone advise, is there a simple fix.. will it be ok?

Thanks in advance

I am sure it will be fine, just the cruise control will not be active.

I assume your has active cruise control....

Simple fix - no idea on the later models, but it could just be the radar unit might be dicky.

As for telling the car what they have done, maybe, I know some vehicles have an electronic maintenance log in case the service book gets lost...so maybe this is a feature the later Range Rovers have....

The radar unit is within the front bumper I think, it will probably say in your owners manual as it will warn against covering the area etc.

He might just have knocked it when working on the car, bit like a PDC sensor they can be very sensitive to not being in just the right place. I would be asking them to look at it for you and just explain that it was fine before and its not now is there a chance something has happened whilst its been there.

Thanks for that... I have looked all round the front and cant find anything. But... if you know the shape vogue I am talking about there is a chrome bar that runs along the front between the fog lights... worryingly below that, there is a plastic trim and mine has a hole in it.. does not look like a factory hole.

Well it may be a factory hole for the sensor to sit behind, it may be rattling about behind the bumper or it may have gone missing. I would imagine they are fairly easy to knock/remove.

Hell I'll say it, they are valuable might have been stolen!

Can hardly see the hole I refer to, but its above the silver trim/bar.. could do with seeing another vogue to see where the radar sits exactly.

Quick look on ebay and these radars are going for £150-200 second hand, so theft is a possibility but no hanging wires etc. The radars on ebay do look fairly big, matchbox size I would say.. nothing fitting that description on mine. But nothing in handbook
