Evening all,
So the instrument cluster has been gradually getting worse in my 2009 RRS. initially occasionally al lights would go off and a clocks would go down as if the car was off. Gradually that has turned to occasionally the lights come on. Not crucial just have to guess speed and fuel levels. However since the weekend it has started causing a system fault and it seems to stop talking to the main ECU. whilst driving, audio and and 4wd screen go off, hazard light come on, still drives but once stopped the car does not start. wriggling the consol so far has made the car come back to live at least long enough to get the car started again. I have resoldered the main connector block but this does not seem to have fixed the issue. I am not comfortable tackling the 2 main chips so I am at the mercy of someone else. There are loads of companies out there that do repairs. Quotes so far vary between £160 and £250. Do any members have experience with this and have any recommendations? Thanks in advance

You should have can bus errors relating to the clocks in the cars memory to do with coms.
Classic solder points or chip failure. The discos suffer from this also. Resulting in none start and hazards flashing😬

Yes 100%. I also bought a second hand binacle but programming to the car seems even more problematic than repairing the old... just trying to work out what company to go with!

Any reviews about their service ?
Seems a large variation in prices between the 2 of them. £250 is not a lot for a competent company's technology & time these days .. I had the alphanumeric ribbon (no instruments) replaced on my old 5 series last year & that cost me £150.
