why not tow from the rear and use forward gears as they are stronger?

cos i started out winching, but just pulled myself forward as couldnt get traction, so it was easier to just chuck a rope on and snatch it

more torque in reverse as its a lower gear.

i always prefer to recover backwards so i can see clearly how things are going and if there is a problem

i wouldnt try and put much torque through reverse though ,idler gear isnt that well supported

yes but its the most likely to break under torque by a good way
