plating experts?

anyone know if you can zinc plate over the top of galvanising?.my windscreen frame is tatty as hell and i can get it zinc plated for a fiver but i'm not sure if it can be done.

In't zinc [plating and galvanising the same thing?

i had some bits zinc plated at the same company a week ago and it doesn't look like galvanising,it's a goldy type of colour.

no yu cant zinc plate over galvanising. It will have to be stripped first. The yella colour is the passivation applied after.

take it in and ask the peeps what are going to do it - it would all have to be cleaned up first anyway - yu wouldnt be plating it over moss and mould and crap.

just a thort - it was steel and not ally yu had done last, was it - coz a goldy tinge was common on alacrome - but i think thats now illegal - like cadmium - unless of course it was in the aircraft industry.......
