Seems like my input is too late but I've scrapped far better uj's than that. Just imagine that coming apart and spinning round under your backside. If you were local to me I'd take a look around for you, so I'm sure somebody nearby will offer the same.

Never heard of the words worn and dangerous on an advisory, that is some uj play you got there.

You tagged me? Read the thread, I wouldn’t drive that with that prop attached. It’s literally at failure point.

New UJ’s

All you need is a vice or BIG g clamp, a grinder, handful of sockets (as spacers), circling pliers and some new UJ’s - DONT buy pattern/britpart ones.

Google what to do, I hadn’t rebuilt propshafts before and did both mine in an afternoon.

I first tried pressing them out, takes ages, so cut them out instead. DONT damage the actual prop shaft though, just cut the UJ

If you know your way round a toolbox it’s easy tbh

Cheers. I going to give it a shot.. just need to work out what size hardy splicers i need. Would i need to take one off to measure it properly?

Think you can get a good idea without stripping, I'm sure there's limited options regarding size.

Ok from a rough look they look like just over 8cm.

Yes.
Make a note of the grease nipple orientation on your old one. It's possible (on a front prop at least) to get it wrong, the UJ will still work but you won't be able to get a grease gun on it once it's fitted back on to the truck.

@Danjo depending upon where you buy your uj's from this can make life easier



You'll also need a 9/16 " spanner if you haven't already got one

If the fender is your daily drive. Drop the bad prop off totally and put it in diff lock then you can still drive.

If it’s the rear prop shaft you take off put the nuts back on the handbrake drum so it doesn’t all fall off lol.

Also bear in mind that if you drop a rear prop off then you don’t have a hand brake anymore as it works on the transmission. So make sure you chock the vehicle.

Stump up the few quid more for OEM ones (hardy spicer) rather than blue box ones imo

Yeah I know, I meant When he takes the prop off on his drive to repair it, not chocked and the car will roll when the prop is off. Easy thing to over look but could be nasty :/

All great advice guys. Cheers. Shame i cant find anywhere that sells them off the shelf near me. So might take it off and use in diff lock until they arrive .
