Hi guys
I have just bought a pair of new 24 spline rear halfshafts and flanges to convert my 2a swb rear axle to 24 spline as I have fitted Disco1 Diffs to both axles, the problem I have is the old 10 spline halfshafts have a nut and washer to hold the flange to the halfshaft where as the new 24 spline ones have a curclip instead and i didn't realise I needed them when ordering as I expected them to be the same as the old 10 spline ones and the paddocks site where I ordered them from don't show them so I need the part number for the halfshaft to flange curclip please :)

24 spline diffs in a series axle ?

do the coil sprung floating half shaft drive mumbers bolt to a series hub ? (or rather is the pcd bolt pattern the same ?)

i also thought the coil sprung axles were longer than series, so their halfshafts would be too long ?

anyways the coil spring outer circlip is 549473

It's ok I have sorted it totally forgot I had a spare set of Def half shafts with clips so used them but think I have dropped a big bollock in fitting a 24 spline D1 diff as there isn't a felt seal on the 24 splined shafts as Defs use a seal in the stub axle, only realised this with getting the shafts and not knowing there wasn't a felt washer and nut on the ends of the shafts so it would probably cover the wheel on oil so think I now need a 10 spline 3.54 diff instead then I can use my old shafts, well pizzed

There not coil sprung shafts they are series shafts being fitted to a series axle fitted with a Disco1 diff ( 24 ) spline in my head I was thinking before I bought them that the flanges fitted the same as the old 10 spline flanges with a nut and felt washer but they don't they just use a circling so there is nothing to stop oil from passing the half shaft with the matching flanges

well, just spit balling here. the early coil sprung land rovers did not have a seal between the half shaft and the axle tube. essentially making the rear hubs lubricated by the axle oil. the only thing stopping the axle oil going all over the floor down the outside of the wheels is a rubber dust cap which fits in a land on their drive member.

Are so a pair of Def ones would do the job then

Just a thought would stage one rear half shafts fit a std 88" rear axle with a Def 24 spline dif as the flange ends look the same as std 88" ones

Ok forget that idea as I've just looked onto it on the stage one forum and no-one makes them except Kam and similar companies and they are really expensive.
Ok back to the 10 spline diff hunt then
