thats the way it goes joe, gotta get stuck in :D

tell me about the temp sensor, im concerned cos touch wood ive never had to change any items on the fuel injection in about 5 years - if any sensors werre bad would it run rich or not at all, cos i do think it runs a bit rich, even though fett said my plugs looked good.

cheers

Yeah, With the dodgy temp sensor it would start up fine from cold after a bit of coughing then run fine...until it began to warm up. Idle was all over the place, n yes, the plugs were VERY sooty (near to the stage where the gaps were none existant n lost in thick black soot). Yeah, its like it was running way too rich. A fiddle with the mixture on maf basically did a lot of bugger-all in terms of plugs fouling (repeatedly taking out 8 plugs to clean each time is a pain in the butt). I tried measuring resistance at a couple of different temps (as per haynes manual) was slightly different to what the book said, but still inconclusive, so I bought a replacement sensor anyways!...The code reader I bought a coule days after pretty much confirmed the coolant sensor.(tho perhaps I should have bought the reader first!)
I've also since changed the ECU block too. The one in there has been dipped in the drink several times (Nick will testify to that), and looked a bit worse for wear. Interestingly it was also beginning showing weird code faults ralated to later CAT models. Not so sure the the circuits n chips were doing what that should be. The replacement now in there doesnt show any, fortunately.

Is anyone planning on having Parkwood on 12th June?

I've not been there since last year FFS, I'd actually like to meet you regulars and after I haven't been out in the Disco for 3 bleedin' months due to the rebuild I think it's about time!

Cheers :)

whats the latest with the bobtail joe?

seems to have got worse and worse since you got it!

Yeah, basically becuase I've just ragged the backside off it! lol

Still need to finish putting in a replacement radiator....but have been doin belts and replacing hoses, clips, connectors and bits n bobs like that at the same time.

Ooh...and I've got some QT diff guards to put on

Nothing too serious then. I thought you may have been having some major problems with it.

Prevention is better than cure!

Nah, nothing too bad. Just running too hot. When the old rad came out I'm suprised it did any cooling at all. Must weigh easily twice that of the new/replacement.
The missus is off on a work trip to Macedonia next week......so I'll be keeping myself busy spending me evenings finally finishing it I think.:)

Yeah mine ended up getting cooked. Took the old rad out, looked pretty ****ed anyway, weighed far too much. Took an hour to jetwash and ended up with about 4 full shovels of **** on the Tarmac :D

I bought a bearmach 4 row hd dad, even on a warm day like today it runs nice and cool all day. New rads are the future!! :D

Yeah it should be. There was no August date due to maintenance according to their website....so sept should be busy.
Well good news is I got the rad in and up n running. Bad news is there's a slight misfire (again!!)...its been sat for a while now without a good run, so I think it might just be a bit of attention to the ignition system n a good run required!

Correction...forgot to plug the MAF back in (had removed the airbox for better access/less stuff to hit with the rad as it went in!):frusty:

i might bob over on the 11th...

aint been all summer, too dry, but goin opposite way round may be fun...

Well, unfortunately I wont over on the 11th...been suffering from the flu this week so haven't put the replacement starter on and diff guards back on I took off before becomin ill, or cut the rear arches to stop tyres binding.... so doubt I'll have the time to get it done before weekend. :(:(
