Bit of help please, I had a problem with parking sensors not working, I used my OBD reader and it told me front left hand outer permanent fault, removed bumper and replaced sensor, before I slotted it back into holder I did a test with sensor pointing up at sky, light on switch came on and didn’t flash and go off as it had been doing.
Put it all back together thinking it was fixed and working ok, when I now put it into reverse it gives a constant tone when I’m nowhere near anything, the rear ones working fine just an intermittent solid tone (if that makes sense) my question is could I have put it into holder upside down or do sensors need coding to vehicle or could it be anything else
Thankyou

In my experience, only genuine Ford sensors should be used. Also the sensors need pushing in so the rubber sealing ring is flush with the front of the sensor. Also the paint needs to be very thin, or the sensor detects it.
No coding is needed for the sensors.
Most diagnostic equipment will give live data, so you can see which sensor is causing the constant tone.

Bit confused about “genuine ford” sensors, I thought I’d bought a genuine sensor from euro car parts for freelander 2, it cost £45.99, so I don’t think it was a cheap copy, maybe got a faulty one, I’ll do a check on my reader and see if it’s that one that’s faulty, thanks for your help mate

The Freelander 2 is a Ford parts bin special, so many parts are marked Ford or FoMoCo, or even Volvo, all of which are basically from Ford.

Genuine sensors are marked Ford.

From what I've seen, aftermarket sensors aren't calibrated the same, causing sensitivity variances.

Hi Nodge, did a live test thingy and the new sensor distance was bouncing all over the place where all other sensors were steady or very little change, think I’ve bought a faulty one or not compatible, I’ve ordered an OEM one from JGS4 see if that sort’s it out, don’t know if I’ll get a refund on unit I got from euro car parts as I fitted it 🤞

I've had the same problem with sensors that don't have Ford on them. Non Ford sensors either gives strange distance feedback, or short the system out completely, causing the PDC module to shut down.
I'd only use genuine sensors now, even though they are a bit more expensive.

The sensor I’ve ordered from JGS4 cost £52 and that was OEM the genuine Land Rover one was £109, the site says OEM parts are from the same supplier that supplies LR just not in a Land Rover package, I hope that is correct, it’ll be a week before it arrives, I’ll keep my fingers crossed and hope it fixes it, I’ve already backed into wife’s car and pushed a dent into door cos I relied on sensors ha!

No mate, I shall do that when I take bumper off again when I get a day that’s not raining, I didn’t think of that as everything seemed ok before I put sensor back into holder and it pointed to the sky, I do feel a bit of a numpty as I’m a retired sparky and that is a standard fault finding strategy
