Hi Everyone

I have a 2001 P38 2.5 Diesel that won't climb hills and really struggles on long inclines

My local garage cleared a gearbox fault which helped to some degree but the car is tricky to drive because of the lack of power

It has had the viscous coupling replaced and has been serviced about 500 miles ago by me

The engine feels disconnected to the car somehow.......

Any suggestions

Many thanks

Ash

Diagnostics needed really but check the pipe from the manifold to the MAP sensor on the fuel filter housing is connected and not perished/blocked. After that, check turbo hoses for de-lamination, remove and clean the intercooler, and EGR valve.
You do know that the accelerator has a very strange travel? It needs to be floored as all the action is in the last 25% of movement.

Hi Datatek

Thank you for the information, I have tried to take it to diagnostics but the guys are always busy and no that interested I am in North London, is there any recommendations for a specialist in my area.

Where is the egr valve located? I have cleaned out the intercooler and checked all hoses, the only thing I haven't checked is the fuel filter.

I think it goes beyond the throttle feel as I had my foot to the floor and the car was still losing speed.

Thanks again

Ash

The EGR is on the front of the inlet manifold. Map sensor is a common problem. Buy yourself a Nano com and do you're own diagnostics.

Thanks for the tips everyone

Steve, I am in Mill Hill NW7 I am happy to come over to you.

Jamie where was the VAC hose located, I have been over the car and can't seem to find any missing bits, also the boys from Cranfield Garage gave it a good looking over.

Where is the MAP located

Thanks again, it would be really good to get this sorted much appreciated

I notice no ones mentioned it yet but what colour is it? It's long been known that red Land Rovers won't go up hills. It used to be believed that this only apply to Defenders but seems to be across the board. Something to do with the molecular structure of the paint adversely affecting the aerodynamics of the vehicle

As I said earlier, on the fuel filter housing, it's at the top front.

Do you also post as "myfirstl322" same quality of answers.

As data has suggested the small black pipe runs from the top of the filter housing to the black plastic air manifold opposite cylinder 4/5 its located underneath . One end should still be attached at least , take a look
