Hi ,
Just a quickie, a certain person who will not be named managed to blow up my Sat Nav as they didnt power it down when repleacing my battery ! be warned !!!!

Ive now managed to find a YIB000050 which I'm told Supercedes the YIB000110 ??

Question is 1. is the Superceded bit true ? the numbers seem to be out of sync ?? http://www.brit-car.co.uk/product.ph...5143&xSec=5497
2. Will it work as a replacement in my P38 4.6 2001

info from http://forum.landrovernet.com/showthread.php?t=15067

thanks in advance !

can the other sat nav not be repaired? i would assume its just blown a thingy m bob (capacitor/resistor/fuse are all types of thingy m bob) and i would suspect most audio services could perform a check and fix on it cheaper than a new unit!

Lazarus like, I'm resurrecting this thread.

I've got a 2000 P38 Vogue with sat nav. The screen is the usual type in later P38s, with the knob and buttons, and identical (visually at least) to the screens in the very last P38s up to 2002.

Now this is where it gets sticky. The non functional sat nav unit I have is a YIB000050, which looks like this...
https://www.dropbox.com/s/twh3otdfj3qch08/2013-05-07 20.35.08.jpg

The back of it is identical to later sat navs, model YIB000110, so presumably it's plug and play between one and the other.

The guy on eBay who says he can fix P38s sat navs for £70 says he can't work on my model, which makes me wonder whether there are significant differences between the two variants?

Therefore, I guess I have three major questions.
1. Does anyone know of any individuals or companies who can fix my sat nav for a reasonable fee?
2. Given the interfaces seem identical, could I plug in a later model (YIB000110 for example) and expect it to work?
3. Similar to question 2, would a BMW navigation device using the same connectors work in place of either YIB000050 or YIB000110? I understand it may not have the off-road navigation option, but on the rare occasions I might venture offroad I'd never lose sight of the gateway back to paved roads so this doesn't worry me.

All ideas gratefully received!
