Hi Guys, got to replace my diesel engine and there seems to be plenty of BMW and Omega engines about, anyone know how complicated it is to change bits over from an engine that's been in a manual car to my auto P38?

i agree i think i would do h/g befor i put it in as for swoping over parts no hard cluch and fly wheel and put yours on that the main diffrents lets know how you get on j

once seperated from the box the blocks should be the same!!! i would as suggested do the head gasket and renew as many seals etc as you can!!!

all the clutch etc is attacked to the box i think so it wont be that hard. you will have to swap the flywheels over so do the rear crank seals.

i would get you engine out, sit the new engine at the side, take a few piccys from all angles, write down the differences and then make the new one look like the old one did!!! it cant be that hard.

the inlet manifold from the early engine wont fit the later one as the bolts are the wrong way round and i think the diesel pump is coded so you will have to change that

Thanks guys, you have made me feel better so I bought the BMW engine. The only thing I'm a bit worried about is changing the flywheel. I will check the engine out first before I fit it , another question , what's the best way to clean it up first, Gunk?

gunk is good fly wheel not hard but will take two to do it is tight i done a few make sure when you change it you put it on tight j good luck
