P38 Nanocom

Update version BBSV 1.06 due next week. Certain fixes, Instrument fuctions and a rotating display so the Aussies don't have to stand on their heads to read it.

Just had a bit of play with mine this afternoon, seems to work well, v. impressed. The only issue I have with it is failure to talk reliably with the HEVAC - main problem is it doesn't always detect the key presses (which I know are working because the HEVAC does respond to them!). Maybe 1.06 will address this.... or of course it could be a problem with my car! It also doesn't always get the live values from the sensors, needs to be rebooted to cure this.

Wammers - is there a user forum for the Nanocom? Can't seem to find one on the nanocom web site....

Yes it does address some HEVAC fault clearing problems i am told. Don't know about forum. Have you done the touch screen calibration and set up?

Don't know about the Nanocom but I find the HEVAC is sometimes difficult to communicate with using my Faultmate MSV2. When I use a long cable (10M) from the OBDII socket I can communicate with all the systems except the HEVAC. Just a characteristic of the Valeo system I guess. There are also lots of comments on the BBS forum.

Dont tell me you post one end of the cable to your customer and use the other end at home to set up the Range rover , thats some lead

Apparently the same HEVAC comms problem is present on the FCR, MSV2 and Nanocom. FCR sorted with latest update, Nanocom will be sorted with BBSV 1.06. Don't know about MSV2, but sure it will be also now that the cause of the problem has been found.

Ha Ha No. It means I can plug in the car while it is in the drive and have the lead through the window. I can then talk to the car with my laptop on my knee while I have a beer. Sad isn't it?

Thinking of purchasing one of these, but got a few questions for those who own one...

1) I'm thick....is it easy to use??

2) Will it fix "Engine Disabled - Press Remote", my remotes don't work...

3) Will it show faults on my Cruise Control?

4) Will it show fault on my HEVAC - I have the book symbol up

5) Will it let me do everything EAS Software does?

6) Best place to order? Quickest Delivery??

2) Fix your remotes, Nanocom is good but it can't repair remotes.

I'm good with technology, just worries i won't understand what it is telling me....if instructions are good, should be ok.

With regards to 2, my car is disabled at present...

No fobs work, had to get Lock Set Bar Code from dealer just waiting for Rick to reprogram for me. But wondering if I get a Nanocom can i get it working for the moment??

My BECM is unlocked....does it make a difference?

I would guess that the Nanocom hardly required new R&D and code writing, BBS has had full P38 capability since the Rovacom days so the development costs are probably well amortised by now. The reason for the price is the same as the reason for the product. It was the perceived threat of the yet to be released Allcomms which led them to decide to offer a vin-unlocked product in the first place and the subsequent failure of the Allcomms to serve P38s which has allowed them to readjust the price at will. I seem to recall when talk first emerged of the Nanocom the price being bandied around was about 200 pounds? This is not a moan, it'll be a good product and its a free market after all.

Just ordered one!

You won't regret it. Excellent piece of kit and small enough to carry around in the car if you have ongoing problems. Take a bit of getting used to, but after a time all will become clear. You can download and print the instructions in booklet form from the site. I had an evaluation model before they came out. It had issues, but all that now appears to be sorted. Enjoy.

It will reset the security part of the key I have several normal keys and it Re synchs them so that they work.It also resynchs the becm key security.

If you have a gems cruise control it will not be able to do anything as the cruise control is part of the gems ecu.The separet cruise ecu is only thor petrol engines, no idea about diesel.

It is very easy to use..

I think all the bugs have been sorted now, have not heard any complaints. Buy quick before Cyprus joins Greece and reverts to the Drachma

I'm researching Nanoncom as I want one ... I read elsewhere that the original model is the best for my P38 THOR 4.0 HSE ( not the Nanoom evolution model ) ... Any opinions on this and anyone got a Nanocom for sale ?
