Hello Range Rover freaks,

In love with my P38, the style, so sophisticated.

But I have a big problem. I had the car for 2 days and it was doing great with the original key, then I lost my original key.

I tried to start the car with the spare key, the car doesn’t react. It said engine disabled. I tried the eka code with the spare key many times, but it didn’t work.

Then I found back the original key after like 9 days, now that one too doesn’t connect with the car anymore, and it says engine disabled in ignition. I tried the locking, unlocking procedure in the keylock to make contact, doesn’t work. Also tried the eka code again with this key, doesn’t work.

Brought the car to some ‘expert’ who charged me ****ing 500 € for it. They ripped me off and scammed me, they hoi don’t know **** and didn’t paid attention to the car, so it’s still disabled. I have a big problem with my business.

Experts would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards.

Juliën

Has the car asked for the EKA? No point in entering if it doesn’t ask.

Put the key in the door lock an open at the same time push the unlock button, do the same to the lock with the lock button.
Then see if it opens open the key button.
Or put the key in the ignition turn to position 1 then push the unlock button on the fob.

Do not rush the procedure be positive in the actions.

Oh and welcome:)

Thank you Marjon, the car doesn’t respond on this, and yes it says ‘Engine disabled’ and ‘Enter keycode or press remote’. And both the remotes are disconnected, the original one who worked greatly before, and the spare key.

Kind regards for the help

Have you opened the car before with the key and did it open all the doors. There should be a light on the dash as you enter the numbers for the EKA.

Needs a bit more help, somebody else will be along soon. I take it the light on the key flashes when you push the button?

Thank you. I’m hoping for it.

The driver seat door does not open from distance, only when I put the remote key in the lock and do it with the hand. The other doors don’t even open, also not when I do it with the hand.

Sounds like you have a problem within the switch so will never get the EKA accepted.

Does the light flash on the key fob when you push the button.

J

If the fob is working you should be able to do it with the key in the ignition pushing the buttons.

Has it ever opened using the fob?

RF memory's out of synch.
What year is this vehicle/is it GEMS or Motronic?
Depending on the S/W version of the BeCM it might be possible to enter the EKA with a nanocom OR switch all the security off.
How on earth do you lose the "known good "working key for 9 days? Did her husband come home unexpectedly? ;)

Thank you for your response,

it’s a 2001 4.6 HSE.

how the hell can I fix this? Tried everything but nothing works. I would pay you if you know how to fix this.

Before I got my Nanocom I too got "Engine Disabled" and was locked out.
My "fix" (before I bought a Nanocom) I found on the internet, and it did indeed work for me (but it is NOT guaranteed) was to disconnect the battery and leave the car alone for a little while (10 -20 minutes).
Put the key in the ignition and turn it to position 2.
Reconnect the battery and turn to position 3 and it started! I was surprised, but it worked for me and I was very relieved.
After this the car would respond to that fob.
Then I bought a Nanocom the next week. :)

See if there is someone near you with a Nanocom?

If you try Dans above advice make sure you have a window open or door open when you connect the battery back up just in case it locks its self.

I’ve the garage did it with a nanocom then it should work and they should have asked I’ve you wanted eka code turned off I think it depends on your becm locked or unlocked are you sure you got the correct eka

Thanks you for your response, they asked Land Rover the original eka code, they putted it in with the nanocom but didn’t work. What to do now?
