P38 Drivers door mirror

Quick one here.
Bloody truck took out o/s door mirror, glass all in place only saved by the 2 electrical connections, black casing also ok. But...... Plactic guts inside mirror all shattered & can no longer hold glass in place secure. Strangely electronic mech still has the cheak to work. I guess its a new mirror are thease easy to replace can anybody tell me where to start in its removal.

Is it all of the guts that are broken or just the clip that holds the mirror glass? It's a seperate (and cheap) component to the rest of the mirror assembly.

Here's what it looks like but you can buy them cheaper.

Usually the clip breaks when you remove the mirror glass so you've not really lost anything if that's all it is!

Good question Kooky Guy, I think its the circular clip all the rest seems ok, I'm gonna check and will report back.

Nice and cheap if so. Can't quite remember the order for installing it - I think, the clip clips to the back of the mirror glass and then the whole things clips into the mechanism. It's a little bit fiddly but otherwise straightforward.

I've had mine smacked twice by transit vans. First time they smashed the glass but not the clip!

Hi all,
It appears that the damage seems to be the circular plastic retaining clip and some internal mechanisim! Looks like its a complet new mirror & casing GRRRR Thanks for all the kind assistance in this matter.

Shame. Still, plenty on ebay. Just make sure you get one with the correct number of connections - I think there are two different types.
