P38 detachable swan neck tow bar - help!!

Hi there,

I have justt purchased a 2001 P38 2.5 dhse, unfortunately the detachable swan neck tow bar is missing. I have tried in vain to find one but to no avail, can anyone help me out here. I only need the swan neck as all other bits and pieces are still attached to the car. Any help would be appreciated either an original part number or where to find one would be great.

Have you looked carefully in the boot? Mine has a place in the styrene moulding to the left of the spare wheel to accomodate the swan neck.

Thanks I did have a look last night but to no avail, I will remove the wheel etc and have a closer look today. Although I don't hold out much hope.

there have been a few on flea bay recently but they are not cheap... if you find a reasonably priced one let me know coz i want one too

You'll be better off contacting a few breakers or possibly buying a fixed towbar kit and tow ball. If I remember the swan neck can cost more on ebay than the towbar kit....

Thanks - gave him a call and he wants to sell the whole assembly and not just the detachable swan neck. I will try again

I'd bet most rangie towbars are thrown on the pile in the end, being as most vehicle have them fitted, but you'll still probably pay 50.00+ quid just for a swan neck.

If he wants a senible amount of money buy the complete towbar and just get him to send you just the swan neck, scrap the rest...

He wanted £80 for it. Will it definately fit my 2001.

Have you tried Dalcrue Auto Breakers just outside Perth? He has plenty P38s in, most with the swan neck. Not far from Clackmannan.

Look carefully at the right hand side of the picture. That car was still there the last time I was in.
