Typical Landy Saturday this weeked when planned to do the yearly dinitrol update.

Thursday the gas boiler in house stopped working due to a o-ring on the heatexchanger flooding the unit. New o-ring ordered friday.
Saturday morning collected the O-ring to realised its wrong size. Ok got a electric radiator to heat the dinitrol 4941 vax so carry on
The 110 300tdi is in a yard near property so need to run a 20meter extension cable for the compressor. Thought when the cable is out might aswell do a quick weld on a support bracket for the diesel heater exhaust. All going well until a blob of weld lands on my shoulder and burns thru the clothes!! The smll of myself! Welding done and carry the welder to house. While was under car seen 1 of the rear chassis drain hole has metal debris in so use a screwdriver and got abit out and then see a smll hole in chassis next to the drain hole. Keep chipping and hole gets rather big, appeox 7x7cm (Unexpected as car passed mot 1 month ago) Ok get welding machine out again and cover hole with a welded on plate. Then noticed hole appeared on side of chassis next to first weld. Weld it up too. Ok welding completed. Walk to house to get the vax and as open the door. The whole house is full of smoke! Ran to electric radiator and the top of the metal dinitrol bottle has come off and vax is dripping into radiator! Which luckily stopped working and saved the day.. Open all windows. Sprayed the chassis with vax and as doing the rear seen new hole on inner side next to where welded earlier. Prepare welding machine and no gas! (Been using bottle for 5 years and needs a refill exactly now today!) Ok cover everything in vax and do it in spring when weather is nicer as on and off rain all day trying to do 2 quick jobs.. Back to the house without heating, atleast it helps cool my burning shoulder skin.

Bonus the female QD on compressor airline has dodgy o-ring had to use excessive force to get it to connect

The joys of diy landying:)

Edit: Forgot to mention that when drove to the plumbing shop water was running from internal gutter unto the dash and my right leg. Thats a first thou was heavy rain recetly and didn't drive for few days prior. Floor mats were dry after the rain. Maybe alpine window is now leaking..

Those welding blob burns don,t half smart. Been welding for fifty years and found out early on it is not a good idea to be wearing welli boots while welding.
Yes learn quick when those blobs lands. Can imagine the welly boots. I been wearing old walking boots and once the tongue on front of the boot guided a blob to my socks.. This sunday was wearing a fleece, should have put coveralls on thou its restricts movement.. Will wear it next time for sure

Is there anything left of the fleece? They love to smoulder. Dickies recently had a 50% sale on their fire retardant overalls. Bought two but accidentally ordered orange instead of my preferred red; by Jove they're ORANGE!

Tennis ball size hole on the shoulder after using the welding gloves to put out the flames. Got both orange and red coveralls thou more black from oil and vax than orginal colour
