on holiday, advise needed please

Hi all
Towing with 300 tdi 96 auto, had a oil and filter change done on box 2 months ago, decat and no egr.

Towed from Walsall to mid wales no probs everything pretty good until about 25 miles from destination and had to stop at bottom of steep, short hill due to bus,
Tried to get as much speed before climb and got up ok, then couple of miles further same thing again but longer but still steepish climb, at top overheat light was on , engine temp not moved so I pulled over to let cool while idling

Last 20 miles if on normal or gentle climbs no prob any hill though and light on again??

Any ideas am I panicking a bit or what? Your a advice or experiances would be welcome

what overheat light are we talking about? as you say temp guage hasnt moved

check gearbox oil level and make sure no restrictions in front of cooler.

My advise is do not listen to 3.5efi. :lol::boink:

Gearbox overheat light, top left of dash red cogg symbol with ! In the centre

Check the condition and level of the oil in the gearbox.

If it's brown rather than red, it's cooked and needs replacing.
