Hey guys,
So I've had my Discovery (2000 td5) about 3 months now and loving every minute of it.
I've almost finished running through the service list (oils, filters etc) to get a baseline and then I can keep on top of it.

The only problems I've experienced so far have been a dodgy fuel water sensor (fixed with a new sensor, i know its not really required, but I like things to work!) and a slight 'oil' leak.

The place where I park it on the drive has had an ever increasing puddle of oil, so I think now the time has come to try and tackle it.

I say oil leak, but I've read threads that make it seem like it could also possibly be fuel leaking. The engine oil level also doesnt appear to have dropped any since changing it 3 months ago.

I've taken a couple of photos the best I can in the small amount of space.

Same view, but drivers side.

As you can see its dripping down both sides of the engine and looks like its coming from near the rear of the rocker/camshaft cover.
Has anyone seen this before? Could it just need this gasket replacing?

Its hard to feel down the rear with the plastic cover in the way.
Is there a list of most common leaks anywhere?

Thanks guys,
Kane

Thanks James,

Looking like the source?

Should it look like this?

Small leak from camshaft cover

On the first picture, the pipe (fuel inlet?) on the right hand side of the FPR, should it look like that, or should it be pushed all the way on?

What is it that goes in these? A gasket or something else?

Cheers,
Kane

Hi Kane, you'll that lots of leaks of various kinds are caused by worn rubber O-rings on this engine, so are cheap to resolve.

My guess is that you have multiple leaks but the first one is coming from the FPR. You can buy kits of seals or you can just buy a complete new one.

Seals about a fiver; new FPR about £90 - your choice.

pipes on ok ,fuel usually leaks out out of the rear of fpr near bulkhead , rocker gasket isnt too difficult to change rtv silicone new gasket to cover then fit cover to head feeling half moon at rear locates properly
