looks like transfer box by the pic first check level 1/2 inch drive ratchet fits the level bung behind handbrake drum use atf dexron11 automatic gearbox oil to top.
if it is low looks like its the oil seal on one of the output shafts (propshafts bolt to them)

yeah ive printed out the manual to save keep looking on the computer lol, i was thinking it was coming from the transfer box but im not sure as the leak doesnt really be coming from it this is a latest pic ive got any ideas?? plus the oil its jet black

I could be way off, but if it is black it sounds like very old engine oil....

It has been known for the crank seal to leak into the bellhousing, but I can't confirm this...more knowledgable members may know better than me....

I would assume it it is leaking into the bellhousing, I am not sure what effect that would have on all the gubbins located in there.

oil runs backwards , its looks coming from bell housing unless a transmissionoil cooler pipe is leaking ,you need to clean forward area and have another look after running the engine

well whenever i drive the car there is massive oil patches everywhere on the roads lol tad bit concerning on closer inspection the oil is rather a dirty golden colour and you can see it dripping off the diff but its not coming from the diff just hard to follow where its coming from if anyone knows a good detailed picture of the underneath of a p38 and what it could be a would seriously appreciate it gonna have to let it stand for a week now as im in hospital this weekend but seriously need to crack on before something grinds to a halt lol

Check the leak off pipes, could be diesel running down.

If it was diesel then you can smell it, smell the black stuff as well, duz it smell like oil?? you need to get a pressure washer on to it and clean it up, you'll have a better idea of where its coming from then, the trouble is, as you drive along it spreads all over the place, and picks up dirt and muck, then just leave it overnight without moving it and have a look then, you'll have better success in finding where its coming from then

yeah, and spreads all over the road making life even more dangerous for motorcyclists :emps1:

Please get it fixed...

sorry not replied ive been in hospital and not had chance to sort anything out but on the plus side it has had chance to be stood for a few days and ive turned the engine over this morning and the above pic is where the oil leak is coming from it is a yellowish oil that smells like turps any ideas as to what this may be and what the above pic is would be a massive help to me

Stick some clean cardboard under the car and that will show you where the leak is dripping from (not necessarily the source of it). Use that as a reference once the underside is clean

ive had a look underneath now while its been stood for a few days and the weather has dried out so the under body of the car has totally dried and it appears the leak is coming from the gear box it self but cant really identify where abouts the leak is coming from to my annoyance lol
