oil filter adaptor not sealed

Hi all, anyone had success fitting one of these type things:

I've just lost perhaps 3 liters of oil while picking up the shopping. Tesco's probably weren't best pleased with the mess I made, oops.

Engine bay is rust proofed again for a while.

I'll have to take a look at the weekend to find where it was leaking from, everything is still tight though

It acts as a spacer between the oil filter and housing so you can fit extra sensors. I've put an oil temp and oil pressure sensor on mine.

For said sensors without disturbing the rest of the normal plumbing.
If I can't get it to seal at the weekend I think I'd be up for other options.

Have you fitted a gasket between it and the block ?

Its a sandwich with the oil filter? Yes? if so then you should only need a oil filter seal either side of it surely?

Oil filter seals come fitted to the oil filter, the adaptor has to have its own seal

It came with a double O-ring seal on one side, the other being blank. If the two faces aren't completely parallel then I guess either face could be sitting incorrectly.

Or perhaps I've fitted it upside down and it needed a new seal on top and the O-rings were to match with the oil filter?

the seal it came with seal it to the filter head the filter has its own seal so that side is bare

So which side does the oil filter connect to?

The top image would suggest oil filter on the flat side.

So is there's a threaded tube, as per your first picture, that tightens the adapter on to the filter housing? The oil filter then fits to it?

yep, that's it. I'll also need to re-check the thread lengths to make sure that the threaded pipe (or whatever you call it) isn't bottoming out.

That's what I was thinking. It doesn't take much to hand tighten an oil filter in place, so the adapter shouldn't need too much tightening up.

Well it's not clearances.
There's enough engagement and clearance between the parts. I've had it apart 3 times today, best I could do was reduce the flow to a steady drip which seemed to come from the the top of the oil filter. The spacer is as flat and parallel as I can measure without a surface table. My bet is on the pipe/bolt inner/outer threads not being completely aligned, the oil filter then won't screw on flat.

As I don't want to add extra gaskets I think I'll have to go with an adapter into the normal oil pressure switch port: suggestions welcome.

OK so I've had a look online and it looks like while it's easy to get an adapter for the pressure sensor (something like http://www.mattlewisracing.co.uk/product.php/1496/29/gauge_adaptor___matt_lewis_racing) it's not so easy to find an adapter that would take a temperature sensor as well.

My browsing suggests that you can take the oil temperature from the LT230 transfer box blanking plug location. As I've already got the gauge and sensor (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Durite-0...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649) I'd prefer not to buy another kit (e.g. (https://www.onlinegearboxparts.com/product/8816/) as everything is wired in the dash already.

So I need an adapter to go between the sender I've got (1/8" NPFT) and the sump plug hole - which I believe takes part 608246 - so the hole should be 3/4" BSPP thread

Well then, I'll need an adapter with 3/4" BSPT and 1/8" NPFP ends then.

Am I talking crap?

find yourself a T piece and then you can fit a sensor in to where the low level light sensor is, thats where I tee’d off for my oil pressure gauge
