Hi all. I'm off to the Pyrenees next month and haven't done much planning! I've got a general route to go by, but not too sure where to head to before doing it... IE good camp site to stay the night before.
If anybody has any decent maps or routes they've used, or any advise, please post. Postal codes and way points would be a great help!!!!!

:)I can give you a name and tel No for a b and b about 4 hours from the Pyrenees in the Dordogne valley near the town of Rocamadour. Friends of mine and discovery owner.
Other than that I cant help you much im afraid.

Okay then. Assuming you want to just get to the Pyrenees and not sight see on the way this is the route ive always taken and consider the best (imho)
Crossing from Portsmouth or Dover. On the Froggy side I head for Rouen, then to Evreux.......then Dreux.......Chartres.........Orleans.......Cateauroux..........Limoges.......Brive....
......Cahors..........Toulouse.....and on to the Pyrenees.
The b and b I have told you about is between the Brive-Cahors stretch.
The sat nav will always want to take you round Paris. My advice is not to do it. I lived near Cahors for 23 years and this is the route that I always use. Not for sight seeing and a lot of motorway driving. :D

Not much help with a route or camping....

Ive been to the Pyrenees but in a camper van so we just parked anywhere we wanted, laybys, supermarket car parks etc.

If your anywhere close to Andora then go there with an empty tank!!! Last year it was 1€11 for litre of diesel and 2€75 for a bottle of brandy so worth a wee detour :)

New tyres this week & shes ready to go :)

Bonne route.:)

Yeah had a look at the route you suggested & deiced to go that way. We're also gonna stop at the B&B you recommended, haven't called them yet, just in case we have a mis-hap & don't make it out the UK lol. Thanks for all your help by the way, it was greatly appreciated.

I'm now back and all I can say is... WOW!
Anybody thinking of doing it - just do it! We clocked up over 2k miles, and I can honestly say every mile was breath taking.
The Land Rover preformed perfectly, and felt right at home in the Mountains.
