Every one I've put on my Defender (LT177) comes loose and wobbles about. They're all rubber fittings not screw down, although the stick has thread for a screw one. Been hunting for one online and they're bizarrely hard to find. Anyone suggest someone who sells one (just a rubber one, no titanium/wood/skulls/8-ball silliness)?

Stick a thread up in the wanted section, I'm sure someone will have a spare ;)

Failing that, where abouts in oxfordshire are you? Chances are there is a landy breakers not that far from you that will have one for a few quid.

Had a look there today. They only seem to do an aluminium one - BA3846. That what you got?

No, I put the std part number FRC8722 in the search box and it came up with the knob for about £3

However, that's with the rubber insert still, not a thread (I don't think there is a standard part which is threaded). I found the rubber insert was too stiff  to get the thread started anyway, so I ran a M12 (I think) tap through it to get it started....... it screwed onto the shaft well and went VERY tight towards the end, so it's good and solid now.

(what's the double-entendre count in that lot then??? LOL)

Checked that, it's the rubber fitting not the thread. Thanks for trying though, appreciate it.

Sorry - now I understand. I've got R380 and mine has a thread on the shaft but the knob it's self I think has the rubber you describe.
Try BTR9270
thats the part number for a R380 gear knob - I'd be interested to see if it has a thread - Maybe mine has had an LT77 knob put on it !! ??
