Got another one.....
Has anybody seen the grunt from under my bonnet?
Haven't had a great deal of time to get out in the disco but have quickly noticed it has no puff on even the slightest hill. It aint the quickest thing and even on a flat smooth road struggles to pull past 3000rpm (3500rpm if you give it a few minutes ) Anything below this limit is severely gutless too. Don't hear a peep from the turbo until around 2800rpm and spend my time going up slight hills at 30mph in second just to get up them. 3rd gear and it just slows riiiiiiiiiiiight down. Trying to get enough to go into 5th gear on a very very long dual carriageway is really really pushing it.
I have checked that there is no play in the accelerator cable and know that it revs without issue straight past 3000rpm when standing.
It is due a service but I wouldn't of thought that symptoms to this degree would be caused by that.
This 'runaround' is turning into a :censored: restoration project :Cry:
Any help/ideas greatly appreciated

300TDI and no not yet, it's on the 'to do immediatly after christmas' list

When you blank the EGR it might be worth cleaning out the intercooler and hoses get that extra air flow.

have you changed the air filter lately?
mine eats them! can get through about 4 or 5 in a year
as soon as mine feels a bit sluggish i change the air filter an its back to normal again.

Ok, new air filter fitted - no change.
Got an EGR removal kit ready but them bolts where the blank plates will go are looking mighty rusty and like they're gonna be a nightmare to come out without snapping
Any tips on removing them in one solid piece?
soak them nuts for at least a week prior to removal with some decent penatrating fluid

As stated, soak ur nuts
.I did mine for 4 days with WD40 and they came loose nicely! You should see and instant improvement once the EGR is removed.

Found a big part of my gruntless issue Had a rather large split in the turbo hose
Replaced and noticing a massive difference but still not quite right, I'm doing the fuel filter and sediment bowl today. But I have a hunch that the lift pump is on strike.
How can I check to make sure?
And also are there any common issues that Disco's have when it comes to passing MOT's?

Hi Flex, re 1. Undo the bleed valve on top of the fuel filter and then using the lever on the lift pump to pump some fuel through - if it works it's likely to be ok. Also, if it ticks very loudly, it's on it's way out.
2. Yes the biggest problem for Disco's MOT-wise is rust - EVERYWHERE !!!!!!!!!

Oh how I screamed ound:
I went to clean out the sediment jobbie earlier only to find some spanner happy g00n has gone and rounded off the bolt on top of it:violent: So that will have to wait a while until I find time to fanny about with it. Can't even get a good grip with mole grips.
Turns out the fuel pump is ticking like an afghan flight passenger too lol. Still, at least that's a simple thing to sort.
