After searching it seems my disco shouldnt have a spider, 93 v8 with single button fob. But the past few days it has an intermittant fault that shows signs of a failing spider. Disco wont start and cant hear the fuel pump going, leave it a while then it starts straight up! Then at offroading yesterday it ran 100% all day then as we came to leave the bugger refused to start until we sprayed some easy start in the intake enough for it to get going. Now thismorning after a good wash it started first time:doh:
I dont know if its the pump as a new one is not far off 80 quid so i want to make sure i deffinately need a new one or is there something else it could be. As my brain has given up trying to solve it

If u had a spider which u don't you would not be able to crank the engine.
An intermittant electrical connection is my first thought, on top of the coil or at the ecu. Second maybe the ignition amp on the side of the dizzy is playing up.

Check ignition amp wiring, mine split just at the dizzy.

Then again, 6 months ago my fuel pump played up, wouldn't run.

Took it out the tank, removed wiring, bench tested motor : fine.

Checked car wiring : fine.

Put it back together, 6 months down the line : not a sniff of trouble from it...!

i had a new ignition amp fitted 6 months ago, i couldnt find a relay for the fuel pump in the Haynes?
Im going to wire in a new feed for the pump (see my other thread) which should hopefully solve it
