just got a freelander ,year 2000 2.l xdi model
was told its chain timing belt,is there a way to check if its bmw or rover diesel engine

you should just tell the woman to BELT up until she knows it has or not

can any tell me if a freelander xdi ,year = 2000 has bmw or rover engine,i just bought one and the guy said it has a timing chain and not regular timing belt, was built in aprial 2000

If yer engine looks like this it's a td4 diesel - timing belt = chain




If it don't look like the above, but and it's a Freelander 1 diesel, then it's a rover diesel. Timing belt = belt

td4 is 2 seconds quicker to 60mph than an L series rover diesel. td4 = 12.8s and rover L series is 14.6s. td4 is 110bhp 260Nm. rover L series is 95bhp 210Nm. Generally speaking, both Freelander 1 diesels are betterer than the petrols for reliability.

i got a 200 reg which has rover engine with 81 k miles on it
now looking for fogs and full bar for front, was looking at soft bullbars as chrome one expensive, can get the black powered coated one cheaper but i dont know
hard to get one for 2000 reg
