no third gear

hello everyone .have owned my first landy for 5 years now.my first landy.Stage one ,1981,came with ldv 2.5 fitted ,never saw v8. cyl;inder head was not good , so fitted fortrack 2.8 n/a.runs great topspeed about 60mph,Unfortunatley would jump out of 3rd occationaly for about three weeks,then third vanished completly ,will still go into postion but no gear.Still gets 1st 2nd,4th& reverse.any clues

Is this fitted to your stage1? What box are you running the 2.8 off? Try the series section of the forum, i know alot of people run this convertion. Might have had similar probs.
