Had overlander over today tried both nano's his and mine no faults out put and speed sensors match but overlanders nano cuts out sometimes .
removed power box had inlet manifold off the ecu sensor green part had come away from its brass fitting new one fitted .
Timing mod is out reading 23 I've lent him the tools to rectifie this
Gearbox is still playing up.

We are sure the TQ is slipping power box didn't really make any changes

So its off to ashcrofts for a check over

I have a question do all the ecu for the diesels work in each other apart from the becm as the gearbox ecu seem to have 4 different types ????

And like mine no air con water sensor or any loom/ plug for it .

I do believe if one was fitted it was only on the 2001 year.

Third sensor for aircon fans was added for MY 1999. If he still has the ECU temp sensor hanging on a wire in the engine bay that could be the reason for the change problems. He was told that last time but took no notice.

I already just said ecu water has now been changed by me.
You keep saying MY 99 all the other ones I have seen and people I know from clubs .
Haven't seen this third black sensor or its loom on a 99 year car

Maybe late 99 for year 2000 then. A closer look does seem to indicate that. The major wiring changes were done for 1999 then more in 2001. The part number of it is not VIN specific unfortunately so can't be sure. Keiths 2000 model definitely has one. :)

What about these ecu's the gearbox ones especially there seems to be Lucas ones and bosch ones all have different numbers I thought all ecu's were interchangeable apart from the becm .

HP22 & HP24 ECU's are definately not interchageable, I believe petrol and diesel are also different, my 96 diesel has a different ECU to my 2000 diesel but both work the same in the 2000. I have only seen Bosch.

Cheers data I guess the diesel ones are the petrol are not . I did wonder about four I forget about those bloody petrols .

As far as I'm aware, any diesel auto ECU will work in any year of car, certainly my 96 ECU works fine in my year 2000 car.

That seems to be the case FTC 2878 NLA. (No longer available) AMR 5258 NLA. UHC 100140 NLA. All superseded by IGG 1000150. So if i was looking i would try and find the latest one. But any will do i suppose. :)

Dave I posted the wrong number if you still after a ecu

Oops I pasted the wrong one eek

Jesus.

I had this same problem come to me a couple of months back. The car wouldn't change gear without the engine screaming & then only under protest.
Two main dealers & 3 independants, & 3 gearbox changes later it turned up outside my workshop.
I found the fault with the engine temperature sensor, £22 later the Range rover gearbox changed perfectly.

Like he was told in post #21 some just cant be told!!

Opps! I must of missed that. After reading the original problem I just skimmed the replies, although I did read one about the couple of sensors being mentioned.
Stripping the gearbox, dear oh dear!

Often times the phrase 'cant see the wood for the trees' is most pertinent. We can all be to close to the problem, and mostly taking a totaly fresh look at things is the only way to spot the issue.

Yes stripping the box seems drastic!!
