Newbie needs help.....PLEEASSEE :)

Hi all, just joined the site.

My partner has a 1990 Disco 200 2.5TDi, and I have some questions for the experts in here:

At around 3000 rpm under load there is what seems to be a metallic rattling coming from the gearstick, if you lift it up it stops and seems to be in all gears.

The tailgate lock seems to travel 90degrees each way but does not actually lock/unlock the door. The central locking works fine.

Finally, the rear wiper doesn't operate, I can hear a clicking from the motor unit when the timer/relay operates but the motor won't operate, is it a common fault?

1) gearstick rattle is normal
2) tailgate locks never work on older disco's
3) sounds like the wipr motor is seized

just a bit of friendly advise, free of charge, landrover build quality is absolute dire. noises and leaks are commonplace.it was built in birmingham for gods sake.
