Hi
Im new here so Hello eveyone. im looking to buy a Defender 90. I saw some at Blanchards and Simmonites that are around £7-8k. both refurbed to Military style spec. Just wondered what guys like you thought about these prices and these companies?? is that a fair deal?? Im pretty new to Landys. i did have 2 WW2 jeeps a few years back tho

all best

that does sound pricey, well pricey in fact ,for that money i'd want one that was done up to look better, as in up a step, rather than reverting it.

Well without a full spec its dificult to say, but as its a B reg has the fuel filler between the door and wheel etc, lets assume it has a 2.5N/A engine in (which is not the best by any means) the MOD used the N/A in preference to the TD as it was much more reliable.

Either way - even if it had a TD5 in it i would not want to pay any more than half that much, and for a N/A well - what ever you can get for it .

Referb landys don't fetch a huge amount as you can get a newer one for the same money that you have spent referbing it, and they still have the same flaws they had when they left the factory the first time.

If your interested in an ex MOD one then i guess you have to pay what people want for them???????????

They're trick to price at the moment. If someone sends a knackered old landy for a refurb they can be paying more than £20,000 if it's done properly from the ground up. That makes paying severn or eight grand seem ok, but regardless of the fact it's been tarted up - you don't know what the rest of it is like. I wouldnt offer any more than £5,500. Simmonites are known for being devious buggers. If you're in Yorkshire, try Landrover restoration and sales - Yorkshire, uk too just for a bit of scope.

If it's N/A engine I'd take a pass unless it's cheaper than what they're asking
.
All the Landrover Wolfs with TD tend to be sold on overseas AFAIK, only the N/A seem to end up over here :(

Thanks matey. I e mailed Simmonites about the one on E bay. heres the reply. price seems to be going up and up

Thank you for your e,mail - we are able to offer the Refurbished Military style tdi Defenders for £9995 as shown in the picture - the original MOD ones are non power steering - non turbo and very poor seating unlike the ones we produce - thanks for looking
