Just because the engine works does not make it a 'bit weird'.

Tyres look a bit small and the snow guard doesn't look right neither do the rear windows haha

You're right there. Definitely something a bit fishy about it.

but then the army runs some weird kit.

If it really is ex-MOD then it is part of the white fleet which means that to all intents & purposes it is basic civy spec. It is possible that it could be ex-RAF but this will be on the release papers if you manage to get hold of them (I take it you are not the first owner since it was cast?).
The air intake is a Wolf item and has obviously been added afterwards. The tyres look very small for a 110, are they 7.50x16 or equivelant? What engine and is it original or original type?

Looks like the start of a good project - keep us posted.

I get it on Thursday. It has the military papers with it so will be able to tell more then. And yeah I thought the wheels were a bit small.

I have seen a few like this in Canada "batus" used to run the big wigs up to the firing point to watch the fun. Nice looking rover .
