Well, I took the plunge and bought my-self a 94 Disco I'm assured is in really good nice condition, I hav'nt seen it yet so its still subject to it being as good as the seller says.
I pressume its a Disco 1?
Its a V8 3.9 + gas with tanks under the body, used to this arrangement as I had it on my 'L' reg Range Rover a few years back.
Do these Disco's have cats?
Seen some adds for some having, others not, Paddocks sell exhaust systems for with-out.
Its got V8i written on the rear door, I presume this would be the 'basic' model?
Last question for now, I pressume its coil suspension and not air/air assisted?
I'm assured it has no rust or corrosion, the chassis still has the makers chalk marks on it, no rust in the rear floor or rear door ways were I know they go, I dont know the vendor from Adam but he sounds truthfull enough and he knows there's no deal if its a dog or any where away from his discrition, he will even cover it with AA until I get home, or if it breaks down they will return it to him and I get refunded.
Its automatic and power everything, its possibly the only way to keep driving Lode Lane products with the every encrouching arthritus, the S3 is getting a bit heavy these days so I hope it works out!
Cheers for any advise,
Terry

yes it will have cats and coil springs, it can't be a basic model if it has "power everything" can it. :)

It has not got a 'GS' or anything like that, thats why I pressumed it to be a basic model, and hunting round the web & forums can make a new vehicle confusing, espoecially when its not at home yet.
It has'nt got any 'wood' trim or leather seats either, so its not the posh one then!:)
I thought, like Range Rovers, only the top models had air supension or am I wrong?
Thanks for the advice chunkymunky.
Cheers

Looking through old LRO's and eBay they all seem pretty loaded with toys, seems often they were optional extra's at the time of sale but that wont alter the badge on the back, its not got GS, SE etc.
Its got roof rails and a ladder on the rear door too, looking at LRO they are extra's but as far as inside trim goes its not leather and not got the 'walnut' trim.
Also no fog lights in the bumper so this leads me to think its not the top notch variant.
It has the deep steering wheel with pressumably the air bag in it?
Thats why I though it may be a 2, but it seems they changed to that with 1's at some point.
Going to collect it tomorrow so I'll see more then.
I'm pretty well gen'ed up on Landrovers especially Series, and Ranger Rovers, had the Vogue but no air suspension at the time a friend had one badged the same but his was longer and had air supension plus the headaches that went with it!
Back to my reaserch....................................

Being a 94 it can be either a 200 or 300 series, this was the change over year. A look at the dash will tell which one it is, Radio at the top of the dash (300) at the bottom above the centre console (200)

The rear doors weren't badged for GS or ES etc, they are on the front wings.

Hi Terry, no Disco 1's ('89 to 98) have air suspension, it only came to Discovery with D11 in late '98.

Went up to Leicester to bring it home today, it was as he said, very little damage, it is 18 years old so I was expecting more than there is, just the tiniest of bubble on the n/s rear door wheel arch easily treated before it gets any worse, a couple of little bubbles in the ali but so little its not worth worrying about, all it needs is a good clean up and tidy!
Nothing on the front wheel arches, all good.
We came back non motorway mainly A46 route as the Mrs was following me back, drove with no problems at all, bit of a rear brake squeak but probably just needs some copper slip on the anti-squeak shims so easy sorted.
It has 2x36ltrs gas tanks, he filled it up for me with 62 ltrs, we did a total of 130miles including a few for him getting back to his house, and there's still some left, thats about £50's worth, I dont think thats bad!
£ tyres are near new as they had a tyre slasher around his way about 3 weeks ago, and a brand new Scorpion on the spare steel, so all in all I'm quite happy!
Is it acceptable to clean and polish Disco's?
I'NEVER dream of it with the S3!!!!

The chap who sold it me said I may have trouble with GPS satnav reception because the windscreen glass has something in it which stops the signal, his is TomTom, he had to move it to the very corner as thats the only place it would work, my Navman works fine though, any one else had this problem?

You're supposed to get lost in a Land Rover so you can go off road to find your way back;).

As above piccies are essential!

That must have been a a very old satnav which had the option of the external antenna, it dosen't happen with modern updated satnavs for a few years now.

I seem to remember something about it now, as you say, must have been very old!
Done 140+ miles now, and still on gas (I think!) do they change over to petrol or run out to a stop, then change over manually?
Still got all greens, that cant be right!
When I switch on I get an amber light far left flash, and a red far right, but they extinguish to solid amber, and red goes out! and drives normally!
Tried reading the boolet that came with the switch that was changed a few weeks ago but its in Spanish, even the 'English' version is hard to understand.
