I just bought my first Landrover, a red Disco 1996 Tdi300 mk1. She's got just over 100k on her, runs nice, and I've been helping a freind maintain and look after her. He's now got the Landcruiser bug so I bought the Disco...

I'm running about underneath at the moment looking at things to fix. Not much rot, well not more than you would expect, but these are the swivel hubs....

What are people thoughts? They dont appear to leak much (could be no oil in the hubs though!) but there is pitting obviously. Is that fixable with epoxy or should I bite the bullet and get some teflon coated replacements? Also are leather gaiters worth fitting? It's going to be used in winter conditions, and greenlaning mainly...

they are worn but not as bas as many ,you could replace and do a thorough job on each wheel station or just ensure they have some oneshot grease in for the time been

I'd put some one shot grease in and see what they're like.

Haven't heard of much success with epoxy if it's bad enough to need sorting.

Gaiters have a rep of catching and trapping grime and might makes it worse, probably better for protecting seals from sand than mud but that's speculative.

There's been some reports of catastrophic failure with Teflon coated swivels of more than dubious quality so don't assume shiny and new is better.
