Hello!

I've just become the proud owner of 2001 Freelander 1.8s Petrol, she is my first Landrover and I am smitten!

I used to have a 1990 Landcruiser but she died a death and as i needed a 4x4 as i have horses i made the HUGE mistake of getting a Vauxhall Frontera and I hated it.... however my silly hubby drove her around and forgot to put oil in her and uhhhhh ceased the engine - opppps but also handy as on my search for a new 4x4 i saw and tried the Freelander and fell in love!

So I had two my fave mechanics come with me to look her over and she is in great condition HOWEVER sadly has had her viscous coupling taken off, the old owner swears that it was taken off for economy - so I'm hoping i can get that put back on. I'm no mechanic and tbh i know very little about cars however my best friends Husband is a bit of a car Guru and his best friend used to work serving Landrovers so I'm very lucky :) I'm hoping i can get a bit more mechanically minded so I can keep her in tiptop condition.

Has anyone done a viscous coupling re-fit and got any advice for me? as well as getting the viscous coupling i think there is a few other parts i need to get for the re-fit, if anyone knows of any good parts suppliers in the DN21 region let me know :)

So here I am a first time very proud Landy owner and really excited about getting her sorted!

Well arn't you all just rays of sunshine....

i got her mainly as I liked the way she drove, although my mechanically minded friends did try and dissuade ~lol~ but I'm stubborn cow when my mind is made up. Yeah she was dead cheap but tbh as she is pretty much a mobile tack room and used to going up and down the dirt tracks to the horses, plus i didn't really want to spend a lot and hoping to cover the cost of her by selling the frontera (anyone want a frontera with a large hole in the engine :p) , guess i might have shot myself in the foot if she takes a lot of up keep?

So the headgasket is a bit of a kicker huh?
