Hi

Having spent decades with Series and older Defenders I finally saved up and got a 2007 TDCi 110. Very happy with the vastly improved ride and performance but can you help with a problem?

It has started jumping out of 1st (High range) under load- e.g taking off from traffic lights etc. Only affects 1st and low range is ok.

Is this a known TDCi problem? Any ideas on the cure and likely cost?

Thanks

Well, having had 2 series IIIs and rebuilt one of them with a V8, then a 90 TD5, then this 110 TDCi I have a bit of experience which I would be delighted to share if anyone was interested. I am new to this forum but I thought the idea was to swap info , hence my question above.

If I see any posts which I think I can add something useful to, then I will.

Premature wear to baulk rings and selector forks common they're very poor quality !! Usually cheapest way is second hand box but beware it may be the same as the one you have !!! Newer trucks don't mean better trucks anymore !!!!

Thanks first to jamesmartin for a nudge to the website ling mt82gearbox. Lots of evidence of probs with this box, tho' not my specific case of slipping out of 1st under load.

Thanks also to ferretboy - a dealer had said that a recon box was probably the way to go but I wanted an unbiased comment - and i got it!

But a new box after only 34000 on the clock? Unimpressed with LR over this as otherwise the truck has been v impressive
