Curiouser & curiouser.
Their website shows Lodexol FR-X as a 75W-90 but your bottle AND the bottle pictured on their site are quite clearly labelled 75w-80.
Perhaps the only people that can answer that counudrum are Morris.

the modern multigrade gear oils are quite thin so shouldnt bugger oil pump ,its baulk rings that could suffer, but yours are worn anyhow

Thanks James, I guess that's the only reason I'm actually noticing any difference is that they are worn. Would you feel happy putting this in your own g/box?

id never normally put an ep oil in a gear box not designed to use it, baulk rings are easily damaged as they are designed to move just enough oil from gear cone to allow it to brake the gear,if your gear change is better the thicker stickier oil is compensating for the wear, but it could have easily exacerbated it as it might on another box,for how long is the question ,

OK thanks mate, that answer's the question. I won't replace with the same next time. Thank you as always... :)

It's an odd one this, because Morris do another oil, this one:

This is recommended on their 'what oil' section of their website, for a td5 defender (r380).

This seems to be near identical spec to the fr-x that I created this thread about, and is also an 'EP' oil.
I've noticed elsewhere in other countries that no longer supply mtf94, the 75w-80 spec oil is used also.

My box is a high ish mileage one, with syncros that display small amounts of wear already, I think if this oil makes it feel THAT much better, I don't really have all that much to loose.

Interesting reading on the Morris site, I'll be using them for all my services from now on, I like them better than comma.

I use Morris Aquamax two stroke for my boat engines, one as a premix & the other oil injected.
Might be an idea to email them & see what their thoughts are esp with the oddity on their site.
