Ok. . .Just removed hoses for cooling system. There was no loss of fluid. Am now suspecting fuel pump.

Would a broken fuel pump cause spluttering during drive and finally a break down ? Without being able to restart the car ?

Good news. Turned out to be a burnt distributer and rotor arm :)

Cars is now running sweet. . .and no . . .no blown head gasket.

Wohooooo !!

Now, all i have to do is keep my weekly checks on the collant and coolant hoses, and stop the car if it begins to overheat, and I should never do the head gasket in :)

Also replaced the centre bearings on the propshaft. :) no more scraping noises. Car is running like a dream.

If anyone ever wants to increase the power of their vehicle by three or four times, I suggest replacing the HT leads after doing 100k. Man ! so much more power now out of this little car :)

The pack-to distributer lead btw, that can only be obtained from LR due to an oversized rubber boot required on the pack.

We have an expression here in NI.............

keep err Lit ;)

Translated -

keep - stay on the power/gas

err - her/she, owners are known to refer to their engines/ cars as her or she

Lit - full steam, as in a boiler/furnace stoked/lit to max output
