if i was too buy a land rover and not insure it till a month say.. what would i have to do with regards to keeping it on my drive or in my garage? i mean would declaring it SORN have to be done or what would happen if i wasnt to do this?

say if its taxed but not insured, what should i need to do? or nothing? i just dont want the police seeing it on my driveway and having a wonder :), i know they shouldne but dont wanna risk it now :)
 
You may keep it on your drive, garage, private ground taxed and uninsured if you wish. You must declare it sorn if you want to keep it offroad and untaxed. The law says you need insurance to drive it on the road so that if you hit something one someone you are covered, you dont even need to have it insured legally against theft or fire, so it if it is not to be on the road then no insurance needed.

Obviously if anything happens to it you are goosed, you would probably be as well getting it insured simply to sit in a garage, some of the LR/classic insurers will do that for you, it is insured to be locked in a garage or sit on a drive, but if you reckon there is not much chance of it getting nicked from your garage then dont bother with it. Also, if may be cheaper for someone older and more experienced to insure it, EVEN although its not even going to be driven. Madness!

they'll not be interested if its on your drive, it would mean putting down they're speed guns coffee and donuts ffs

On tow, it will more than likely still be driven from a legal standpoint, and so needs insurance. If not driven whilst being towed by way of an A-frame/dolly, it will more than likely be illegal still unless the frame/dolly is of the braked variety, and very few are.

Suitable trailer or flatbed truck are the only real legal alternatives.

read post 6 he says he has a trailer
 
leave it on the drive uninsured old bill cant touch it.If it gets nicked or tourched youll have to pay.No biggy.
