I’m having a little issue with my front wipers and looking for a few pointers on narrowing down where the fault lies!
I’ve looked through old threads but none are that similar to what’s happening.
The wipers work ok when the window is wet and no real restriction on it and if I lift the wipers off the screen but as the window dries they just seem to stop. If I assist the arms by hand they operate ok. Investors stripped off the top of the dash and lubed everything up and seems to be ok until the window gets drier or nearer to being dry! It seems that any little bit of restriction and it just can’t handle it, is it just the motor packing in or could it be something else?

If you can move the wiper cable by hand [ disconnect motor from drive cable, undo large nut and remove backplate to do this ] then problem is with motor. Common problem is the bearing [ just a plain bush ] at the bottom of the motor can going dry.

If you can freely operate the wipers with the cable by hand then it’s probably the motor.

There is a thread and lock nut on the end of the motor that you can adjust, to remove backlash. Check this isn’t over tight.

Stripped the dash to have a look , gave everything a good clean and lubricated everything. Seem,s to be working absolutely fine now so hopefully it’s just been a build of crap on the workings jamming things up a bit
