so I finally bit the bullet and bought a Nanocom - what a brilliant bit of kit! There were no where near any many faults as I’d been anticipating which was good to see and I’ve been able to get the rear air bags set up properly and generally fiddle about with lots of things!!

Which is the reason for this question.. My figures for the EGR and Wastegate do not seem to show anything other than 0... reading through the documents from Nanocom and doing the prerequisite googling and forum searches I’m pretty sure that they either should or point to things not working properly.
I still have the EGR fitted - bailed out of removing it when the new MOT rules came in but as it sailed by in April this year with no emission issues I may yet blank it off.

Does anyone have any figures for either of these from a known health EGR etc? Would be much appreciated so that I can either dig a bit further or leave alone!

Truck is a 2002 Disco 2 TD5, 90k miles.

Thanks in advance
Si

Did you record an inputs fuelling log from a longer drive when you gave it heavy throttle and the EGR and wastegate figures are 0 all the way? if yes check fuse F2 in engine bay, if not how did you get those readings? both would start rising only under heavy throttle otherwise 0 is normal

Hi Sierrafery, thanks for the reply
It was from "monitoring" on a short drive, but probably not particularly heavy acceleration.
Will record logproperly on a longer drive today and also check F2

@sierrafery - So I've been for a drive with the nanocom logging and a few heavy accelerations and there are no readings from EGR Inlet, EGR Modulator or Wastegate modulator - any pointers on where I should look next?!
I've attached the file in case that helps at all.
Also noticed that I have a "Driver Demand Problem 1 - logged high" fault that is being logged as fast as I can clear it as well as a "rear left output valve open circuit" joy, more googling!!

Thanks for any help, really appreciated

I can't figure out any clear data from that attachment , sorry
sorry - for some reason I uploaded the PDF version. I've attached the .txt version, hopefully that is better. Unless you mean there isnt enough data in the file/the drive wasnt long enough?

Sorry @sierrafery - for someone who works with computers all day long i'm doing a terrible job!

Have saved on Dropbox in Excel format here;
https://www.dropbox.com/s/m79bwwdb11h9rik/TD5_excel.xlsx?dl=0

and csv format here;

Hopefully one of these will work or I'm giving up! thanks for your patience!!

And I checked fuse F2 which is fine. I'm not sure if I'm chasing an issue that isn't really there, just confused by the 0% readings

Ok, the dropbox link works fine... you have tu buy a new MAP sensor cos your's is FUBAR hence the lack of EGR and wastegate modulation

ok, thanks for looking at the file again, appreciate the feedback.

Slightly concerned now as that reading was the day after I put in a new sensor (MHK100640) but it was only a 3rd party one, around £25, do you think its worth buying the OEM or genuine one?

That sensor is too importnt to mess with unreliable items... better bite the bullet and buy at least a bosch but genuine LR would be the best

Replaced the MAP (mhk100640) with a Bosch one, also replaced the depression control valve as it looked very shabby and reading a few other posts on here it seemed like a new one would do no harm, and I now have some readings!

New diag file here

How “good” they are I’m not able to decipher that just yet but it shows the benefit of decent parts - thanks again @sierrafery :):cool:

Now it's much better as the boost is visible and well corroborated with the air flow and the EGR + wastegate are on as well...is it running OK now?

Yes, seems to be much better and more responsive.

I added a liberal amount of WD40 to the wastgate actuator over the last few days in case that was sticking at all - haven’t removed the heat shield so cant take the rod off and test it. And I’ve cleaned up the K&N properly as it was rather rank! Have a spare OEM filter to put in and try at some point just to compare “side-by-side” and make sure the cleaning worked!

So other than that I plan to leave alone in that area now and focus on the other bits!

Are the forge wastgate actuators, in your opinion, worth the money and a worthwhile upgrade/replacement for the std one?

I have it but the uprated hybrid turbo CHRA was also fitted then so i dont know which one made the most of it... IMO the forge actuator is much better than the original cos it has a more linear travel

Thanks, may have to add that to the list! Another one to sneak past the wife!! :rolleyes:
