Winchman are cheap/budget winch, I have repaired a number of similar winches and quality is poor

For your discovery, at good price and quality, I would recommend

Warrior 9500 High Speed winch

It is by far best quality for price.

FINISHED!! Just read this post from start to end, some excellent mods. It will definitely help me with some of the upgrades I was planning. Great work and a big thank you for all your pics. Keep up the good work.

I see you have mile marker, that is a good winch.

Yes some superwinch are ok, but the budget models are poor and should be avoided

All goldfish winches are very good

G-11, G12, G12+++?

what brand would you recommend, Castrol, HEPU, IGOL, SWAG.

Anywhere in repair manuals writes:

Anti-freeze contains important corrosion
inhibitors. Ensure the 50% anti-freeze/water
solution is maintained and topped up all year
round (not just in cold conditions). Failure to
do so may cause corrosion of the radiator and
engine components.
Use an ethylene glycol based anti-freeze
(containing no methanol) with non-phosphate
corrosion inhibitors suitable for use in
aluminum engines. The specific gravity of a
50% anti-freeze solution at 68° F (20° C) is
1.075 and protects against frost down to -33°
F (-36° C).

hello peter

in uk we have 2 main types of antifreeze

both are ethylene glycol based

one is coloured blue and is for older vehicles and one is coloured pink and is for newer vehicles

pink is also known as "OAT coolant"

both are suitable for 300tdi to be honest

i personally use blue coolant in both our 300tdi and my 3.5 v8

but i could use pink in both too

where do you normally buy your coolant from in your country?

color is not determinative
they almost all antifreeze are aqueous solutions of ethylene glycol and additive package, providing high anticorrosive properties
liquid and do not allow deposition of mineral salts (scale) on
cooled surfaces.
My question was for their compatibility with topping up, I am supplementing
antifreeze HEPU-green.

i am sorry peter i am not familiar with the G scale

i know VAG vehicles use G12 coolant if i remember correctly

but in the land rover world it is glycol blue for old, glycol pink for newer vehicles!

although, im sure either is ok in all ages!

What size tyre?

I use 1.2 transfer box, 4.12 Crownwheel, 32" tyre

Gear ratio is fantastic

Yeah, standard transfer box 1.2 D1, the tires 235х85х16 =32"

Same problem as me then

Most likely I will go for the 4.12 HD ring and pinions from Ashcrofts, it is the only way to bring the low ratio back to standard, fitting a 1.4 transfer box brings high back to std but low will still not be low enough well at least not for my liking anyway.
