My P38 is a hybrid........

Just to please and appease all the tree huggers and eco-warriors my P38 has been transformed into an electric/petrol hybrid model, perhaps the first of it's kind.

Each night I dutifully plug it into the mains electricity, this charges what I call a 'battery'. I use this device to drive a small but powerful motor which has been mounted to the side of a small eco-fossil fuel unit that I call a V8 4.6.

First thing each morning I disconnect the battery from the mains electricity and operate the small electric motor to provide an initial burst of eco-friendly power, and after a brief period the petrol engine kicks-in to save electricity.

I use this cycle at each stop/start and have managed to make huge savings in electricity consumption and have found that with judicious use of the overnight charge, the battery can often retain sufficient energy to power the 'starting' cycle as many as three times per day.

Early days yet, but I'm sure you will agree, progress of sorts.

Someday someone is going to come up with a system that allows the battery to be charged while the car is being driven.

nah it's still dull

What a brilliant idea though, put a 12lt petrol lump in and think of how much electric you will save by not having to drive an electric car..... that is the way its meant to work right? we are all saving electricity by burning fossil fuel

If you look at energy conversion figures for steam turbine electricity generation and then the transmission losses I reckon even your V8 is green by comparison and a diesel definately is
